Infrared is one type of energy that goes to make up what is known as the electromagnetic spectrum. The energy is in the form of a wave and each section of the electromagnetic spectrum has energy of different wavelengths. Other waves include visible light, microwaves, ultraviolet, x-rays and microwaves.
![]() Infrared is a radiant heat and is also called infrared energy. Radiant heat is simply a form of energy that heats objects directly through a process called conversion, without having to heat the air space in between. This is the warmth you feel on your face on a sunny day. Have you noticed how when a cloud obscures the sun, you feel cooler? The cloud is blocking the infrared. Do not confuse infrared with ultraviolet which is the light that can burn your skin, UV passes through the cloud which explains why you can get burnt on a cloudy day. The infrared segment of the electromagnetic spectrum is divided into 3 segments by wave length, measured in microns or micrometers (one micron = 1/1,000,000 of a meter): 0.076 - 1.5 microns = Near Infrared (NIR); |

The thing most appealing to me about the Thermotex far infrared system is the therapeutic benefit of the infrared waves. I have used these pads on many Olympic and professional level athletes as well as members of the general public, and I am pleased to endorse their use as a means to achieving optimal health.
